About

I'm a practising optometrist based in Coffs Harbour, NSW, with a background in physiology and sleep science. My clinical work has centred a lot around dry eye and ocular surface disease, having run dedicated dry eye clinics and built a real interest in this side of the profession.

Over the last couple of years I've started speaking up publicly for employee optometrists, as Australia's first optometry union delegate with the Health Services Union (HSU), and as one of the admins behind Phoropter Free Fridays, which started out of frustration with shrinking consult times, sales-driven KPIs, and burnout across the profession. It's grown into a space where employee optometrists can talk honestly about what's actually going on in clinic, and that's fed directly into the push for proper award coverage and a stronger collective voice for the profession.

I co-authored a study on the working conditions of employee optometrists in Australia, and write occasionally for industry press (Insight, mivision, OPO) on workplace issues in the profession.

Outside of clinic I'm a fairly fresh first-time dad, an extremely amateur weekend cricketer, and thoroughly convinced the Coffs Coast is the best place in the world to live.
