Why I built this site

I’m Rory — an optometrist, HSU delegate, and one of the admins behind Phoropter Free Fridays. Over the last year or so I’ve ended up talking with a lot of employee optometrists about the same handful of problems: unsafe consult volumes, KPI pressure that squeezes out patient-centred care, and simply not knowing what their rights actually are.

This site is where I’ll be writing that up properly — plain-English breakdowns of the laws and awards that actually apply to us, updates on the union campaign, and the kind of context I wish someone had handed me earlier in my career.
